What is a 80 minute session for?
For some the 50 minute session weekly or bi-weekly provides the appropriate amount of support. However, when planning family sessions, or art therapy sessions, the longer time can allow for more material to be covered. When clients are used to the pacing of a 50 minute session they are able to come in, drop into the therapeutic space, and intuitively (or with the assistance of a prompt) know when session time is beginning to wrap up. For families, friends, or loved ones not used to the pacing, it can take time to settle into the therapeutic process. The longer sessions can be helpful to prevent having to end, just when everyone is arriving at the core or heart of the session time.
